BucketBridge is a client application for managing object storage that supports the S3 protocol and other S3-compatible services. It is designed to work cross-platform on Windows, macOS, and Linux.
The core of BucketBridge is written in Rust, which powers both the graphical user interface (GUI) and the command-line interface (CLI) in the terminal. This allows general users to conveniently drag and drop, manage files, or inspect buckets, while developers and system administrators can automate tasks using scripts, run simulated executions (--dry-run), or pipe NDJSON-formatted output seamlessly into other systems.
For file transfers, BucketBridge prioritizes reliability. It supports multipart uploads for large files verified by checksums, as well as pausing, resuming, and automatic retries upon failure. Transfers can resume even after a system restart, and built-in cleanup mechanisms prevent lingering remnants, ensuring that canceled transfers never leave incomplete object parts on the cloud. Additionally, a shared bandwidth cap prevents transfers from disrupting other network traffic.
When it comes to folder synchronization, BucketBridge offers an analysis feature to inspect file differences before execution. Users can choose to upload, download, or perform two-way synchronization, with optional deletion to mirror destination files with the source and the ability to save custom filters. It also works beyond AWS S3 by supporting custom endpoints, path-style addressing, the Requester Pays model, and per-bucket region routing. The interface automatically adapts by hiding features not supported by the target server.
For detailed object management, the application allows users to view and edit file properties, modify HTTP headers, configure custom metadata, manage tags, transition storage classes, manage object versions, preview files, generate time-limited share links (presigned URLs), and export bucket object listings.
Security and privacy are major highlights: BucketBridge contains no telemetry, meaning all connections communicate directly and exclusively with user-configured endpoints. Secrets and access keys are securely stored in the operating system's keychain with an optional master password. Destructive actions require typed confirmation to prevent accidental data loss, and client-side encryption is supported before files are uploaded to the server.
